artist Statement

My paintings emerge through a dialogue between intention and surrender. I begin each work with an acrylic pour on wooden panel, guiding pigment through movement and gravity, then introducing fire to open cells in the paint. These luminous, organic backgrounds become internal landscapes — echoing what I encounter in both meditation and the natural world. From this ground, I build forward in oil, layering gradient fields and details that give form to the chaos beneath. The pour actively informs the composition, guiding me toward imagery drawn from sustained stillness and the felt energy of landscapes encountered in deep observation. Across my collections, I explore the evolution of consciousness, the hidden intelligence of mycelium networks, and the botanical wisdom of Amazonian master plants — subjects that converge in what I think of as landscapes of the mind, where the boundaries between self, nature, and awareness dissolve. I've come to understand my role less as the author of these images and more as a collaborator with the process itself. The work takes form in the liminal space between what I bring to the panel and what the materials and the work itself want to become.
